I religiously use my Chase Sapphire Preferred Card when traveling and I 100% endorse it for those who want to get into the “travel points” game. As of May 2025, you can get 100,000 points after using the card for 3 months and spending $5,000 on it. Chase redeems points at a 1.25 to 1.00 ratio, which means these points are worth a whopping $1,250!!! That’s enough for 2-3 round trip tickets in the US, or a round trip ticket to Europe / East Asia!! There’s also no foreign transaction fees whatsoever so you can use it anywhere abroad. ($95 fee per year, though Chase gives you a $50 “hotel credit” which actually is just a normal credit to your account, and the remaining $45 could be paid using 4,500 points, if you want). Check out more about the card here.

Craig is a 35 year-old, sun-loving, bourbon-drinking native Floridian, former Phuketan, current Bangkokian, and part-time drifter of the world that is the face behind Vagabond Disposition. He has called the Land of Smiles his home for about 12 years on and off, coming and going between journeys throughout East and Southeast Asia, as well as Western Mexico and Europe. Currently, he is working as a university English lecturer in Bangkok, and continues to travel and explore on weekends and long holidays. He enjoys a competitive game of disc golf when he can find a course, as well as a laid-back match of Bocce with spirits in hand. Craig has a musical soul and will jump on a piano, drum set, or ukulele any chance he gets. His odd sense of humor is fortunately often appreciated by his peers, as well as his students. In addition to also teaching English online, Craig runs his own business designing and selling Florida-themed apparel and merch on Etsy as well as 2 different website stores: Tailgator Central and iLoveFloridaMan. He also designs and sells travel-themed items right here in this website, too.
